This year is special as my car will be 80 years old. It took me 10 years to restore it and find the necessary parts. By those days it was complicated to find repro parts, except for basic body parts.
A bit of history about it: This car left the factory on January 30, 1944 for the Heereszeugamt Kassel depot, Germany. This depot was the closest to the Wolfsburg factory, the majority of vehicles were parked there before their assignments to the units.
The car received for registration: WH 1572382 (we found the first digits “WH 1572″ when reoving the paint on the rear cover.
It was assigned to the panzer division PzNachrAbt.13 and delivered to Russia at Krivoi at the end of January 1944. The division left Krivoi for the town of Cherkasy then withdrew via Dniester and Kishinev. In August 1944, the division was destroyed during the Russian Jassy-Kischinew operation.
From the end of September 1944, the division was reorganized in the Reich and transferred to Hungary in October 1944, where it was destroyed again in February 1945 during the Battle of Budapest.
The vehicle was purchased by a mechanic from Avelin in France, then by a collector in Bellac in France. The latter sold it to me 20 years later in 2005.
